Privacy Policy

Effective Date: October 2nd, 2014

Your privacy is very important to us at A.R.O, Inc. We have developed this policy in order for you to understand how we collect, use, communicate and disclose and make use of personal information on and our Saga mobile app (referred to as "Saga" below). The following outlines our privacy policy. If you have questions or complaints regarding our privacy policy or practices, please contact us at

Information Collection and Use

We want you to be comfortable using Saga, so we've described in detail below what information we collect and how it is used.

Before or at the time of collecting personal information, we will identify the purposes for which information is being collected. We will collect personal information by lawful and fair means and, where appropriate, with the knowledge or consent of the individual concerned.

We use the information that your mobile phone already collects about your current location and whereabouts in order to provide a thorough and beautiful lifelog that writes itself.

We ask for the following personal information from you, contact information such as name, e-mail address, phone number, unique identifiers such as user name, password, demographic information such as, education, gender, interests and zip code.

When you create an account with Saga, we will collect certain personal information about, like your name, email address, home address, and mobile phone number, as well as some non-identifiable information, if you choose to provide it, like your marital status, gender, birthday and occupation/employer, so that we know who you are and can personalize and provide the services of Saga specifically for you. You are not obligated to provide this data in order to use Saga.

When you download and use our Services, we automatically collect information on the type of device you use and operating system version.

We collect your location based information for the purpose of creating your personal digital autobiography. We will only share this information with our mapping provider for the sole purpose of providing you this service. You may opt-out of location based services at any time by selecting Location Recording OFF in the device settings menu, or by emailing us at

Anytime you use Saga, it will receive and store information about your actual location (using the GPS coordinates sent by your mobile device) or your approximate location (such as from a Wi-Fi network or other network location points), the length of time you spent in that location and what activities you were likely doing (using your device's motion signals, like the accelerometer, to determine if you were standing/sitting, walking or driving).

Saga will remember those places you visited, the points you passed along the way and how long you stayed, by running in the background (or foreground), whenever your mobile device is turned ON, even if you switch to another application, go to the home screen, or sleep your device. You can disable Saga by turning off “Location Recording” or pressing the “Sign Out” button within Saga. You can also keep Saga from remembering your location by toggling off the "Record Location" switch found in the Saga settings. You can also enable or disable location services when you use Saga at anytime, through your mobile device settings. Saga performs the best when it has access to the full range of location services offered by your mobile device. Turning off location services (such as Wi-Fi or GPS) will mean Saga won't work as well.

If you sync your calendar with Saga, we will store your calendar entries and appointments so you can be reminded of them through Saga and Saga can remember them in the future.

If you connect your social networking accounts (such as Facebook, Foursquare, and Twitter) with your Saga account, we will store your access tokens to those accounts (if you provide them to us) so that you can also post your status, check-in, or tweet about what you're currently doing to those accounts. We will also access and gather your past check-ins, timeline, friend lists, followers, and other public information that is made available on those services and sites about you in order to better understand you, what you regularly do, and where you go, so that Saga can make better recommendations and provide a service that is personalized and specifically tailored for you.

We may also use this information in aggregate form, that is, as a statistical measure related to all of our users that would not identify you personally, to improve and enhance everyone's experience using Saga.

Derived Information: We also gather and analyze your actions on Saga in order to derive or infer aggregate statistics characteristics, that may be descriptive of not just you, but of a broader category of people (for example, when someone is likely to visit a place or venue (and what type), the day of the week they are likely to engage in a certain activity, the conditions necessary for someone to go to a certain event, and when and where someone normally travels at a given time of day).
